Power Production
Sallyport provides power production services to clients working in some of the most challenging locations on earth. It can mobilize and deliver power generation units up to 2600kW, install and maintain them, whatever the environment and where ever the client’s mission takes them.
The power production services division is currently performing work in Iraq under the AFCAP contract at Joint Base Balad with power generation equipment to enable U.S. Air Force operations as well as at Sallyport’s compounds supporting USAID programs. Today, Sallyport provides more than 150 personnel supporting all associated O&M services and has an active partnership with APR Energy to provide generator equipment anywhere in the world.
The power production services team has a strong technical understanding of power generation equipment allowing for rapid diagnosis of under-performing machines. They have expertise in both power generation and power distribution/transmission techniques and principals, and are Caterpillar, Cummins, and Perkins certified technicians. The team can handle all assignments, from procurement to delivery, set up, to start up, to on-going maintenance. SALLYPORT POWER PRODUCTION OPERATIONS
In Iraq, under a URS/Berger contract, Sallyport provides the U.S. Air Force, at Joint Base Balad, with power generation services from more than 1000 generator sets, ranging from 10kW to 2600kW
In partnership with PAE, (a Lockheed Martin Company), Sallyport and its joint venture partner Arkel, provided the power production services for the 2,500 square meters Divisional HQ of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army in Duar, South Sudan. The contract included procurement, delivery and installation of a 3 MW power plant. The remote site, lack of roads, and the unstable political climate, were great challenges. The phase was part of an infrastructure and civil works project for a Department of State and Bureau of African Affairs Africa Peacekeeping Program.
Also in South Sudan, Sallyport procured and delivered the power production equipment necessary to provide an entire FM radio station to function. The contract was for USAID, and Sallyport worked in partnership with Arkel. The station is now up and running – providing daily news, information, and entertainment programming on FM 98.6. It has had no significant power outages.
Sallyport and Power Generation Solutions have recently won a contract to supply a 21 MW Diesel Generating Power Plant and associated equipment to the USAID Kandahar Helmand Power Program. The program is currently assisting with the expansion and refurbishment of a medium and low voltage power distribution system for Kandahar City.
The Engineering Procurement and Construction contract includes the decommissioning of 14 existing diesel generators and related electrical equipment at the Breshna-KOT Substation. It will take place during the phased installation and start-up of the new generators at the Kandahar City East Substation, and will help to ensure that there is no interruption to the power supply to Kandahar city. An operations and maintenance training program for the current Afghan staff will also be completed during construction.
