Overview:
The 49th Fighter Wing, host wing at Holloman Air Force Base supports national security objectives with mission-ready F-22 Stealth Fighters, an Air Transportable Medical Clinic and BEAR Base assets. It deploys combat-ready and mission-support forces supporting Air Expeditionary Force operations involved in the Global War on Terrorism and peacetime contingencies and provides training with the T-38A aircraft; and support to over 18,000 personnel to include training pilots in the F-22 Raptor and German Air Force Tornado operations. The wing has a proud history of service in World War II, Korea, Southeast Asia, Southwest Asia and NATO-led Operation Allied Force.
Scope of Services:
Sallyport under an AFCAP Task Order provided firefighters at three fire stations responsible for providing NFPA Category 8 ARFF firefighting services to U.S. aircraft as well as Holloman's three runways. The base covers over 59,000 acres and includes 7.4 million square feet of facilities. The physical plant is valued at over $2.5 billion. Sallyport firefighters also teamed with other base agencies to provide HAZMAT Technician response capability for CBRNE incidents. Trained and skilled personnel were available 24/7 to provide technical rescue services as well as top-notch EMS care.
- Sallyport mobilized its personnel and had them mission ready within 30 days.
- During the contract period, teams responded to 229 emergencies involving aircraft, structural, medical and miscellaneous responses.
- Selected to participate in an Air Force promotional video and actively involved in setting up various installation programs (Fire Fighters Memorial, Fire Prevention Week, Tours and displays, POW/MIA Ceremony, Squadron Children's Christmas Party and TOYS for TOTS Drive).
- Members of the Sallyport team received specialized training to provide immediate coverage as Holloman AFB is a alternate landing "safe haven" for the NASA Orbiter program.
- Sallyport team was instrumental to the installation receiving the Installation Excellence Award for Air Combat Command.
