Overview:
The Multi-National Security Transition Command - Iraq works to develop the various entities within the Iraqi government required to provide effective security and first-responder services to the citizens of Iraq. In 2006, MNSTC-I sought qualified providers of equipment and training services to assist with the equipping and training of the Iraqi Civil Defense Directorate (ICDD), the agency responsible for fire-services across Iraq. The effort called for the supply of various types of fire equipment, search and rescue equipment, vehicle maintenance equipment as well as related training sessions to ensure the Iraqis were capable of maintaining and operating the equipment going forward. Sallyport partnered with W.S. Darley & Co. and was selected as the provider of both the equipment and training services.
Scope of Services:
Sallyport delivered over three million dollars in products and services in conjunction with these contracts over a two year period. The contract required that Sallyport Global and Darley supply over 1,200 end-items ranging from gloves and boots to complex search and rescue equipment.
- Teamed with W.S. Darley & Company to establish a procurement supply chain that would ensure delivery of items in a timely and quality manner to Iraq. Leveraging Darley's 100 years of experience providing high quality fire equipment around the world, the team leveraged an extensive network of suppliers, aggregated the equipment at a regional site, and then shipped via Kuwait to several different locations in Iraq.
- Delivered over 1,200 end-items to four different locations around Iraq on time and with no rejections or missed items.
- Hired and trained various experts to provide instruction to ICDD employees on the usage of the equipment as well as to provide training in Search & Rescue, Vehicle Maintenance, and Fire Fighting Techniques (IFSAC Firefighter I Training)
- Conducted familiarization training for approximately 100 ICDD personnel on vehicle maintenance equipment. The training was conducted at the ICDD Headquarters in Baghdad.
- Conducted Search and Rescue Training for over 250 ICDD personnel in tactics, techniques and procedures related to SAR skills and equipment.
- Established a training facility in Basrah and provided full support facilities to accomplish the Search and Rescue Training.
- Sourced and developed curricula for Fire Fighter I training in conjunction with Bucks County Pennsylvania Community College. Created the materials for the training in both Arabic and English and conducted testing on-site for both academic and practical skills required.
- Provided full facilities management services for the Iraqi Fire Training Center in Baghdad in order to carry out the training classes.
- Provided training for over 500 ICDD Firefighters to ensure they were competent to IFSAC Firefighter I proficiency.
