Overview:
On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina made landfall in southern Plaquemines Parish Louisiana, just south of Buras, as a Category 3 hurricane. Maximum winds were estimated near 125 mph to the east of the center. Hurricane Katrina will be recorded as the most destructive storm in terms of economic losses. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded Individual Assistance Technical Assistance Contracts (IA-TAC) to Fluor, Shaw, Bechtel and CH2M Hill to assist them in the recovery efforts. Sallyport provided construction services to CH2M Hill under their IA-TAC contract.
Scope of Services:
Sallyport installed over 1000 travel trailers at individual residential sites in five Louisiana parishes (Orleans, Plaquemines, Saint Charles, Terrebonne and Lafourche), constructed a124 unit travel trailer group site at Captain Larry's in Plaquemines Parish and performed a complete renovation of the sewer and water systems at the Billy Nungesser and Tolar FEMA Travel Trailer Group Sites in Plaquemine Parish.
- Site assessments for potential group sites and placement of temporary housing.
- Site inspections for potential placement of temporary housing on a disaster applicant's property.
- Staging area management and support, including but not limited to, staging operations and staffing.
- Resources tracking, monitoring, inventory management, transportation, and unit upkeep and maintenance for temporary housing units and/or structures.
- Installation, deactivation, and removal of temporary housing units.
- Group site/facility design services for addressing temporary housing.
- General construction services (individual trailer and trailer group sites for displaced residents).
- Program implementation support and management.
- Maintenance of temporary housing units.
