Overview:
Ali Al Salem Air Base is a Kuwait air force installation with part of it designated for operations by the US Air Force and its allies. Affectionately known as "The Rock" and located just 23 miles from the Iraqi border, it is home to 1,500 people and the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing. Sallyport, under the Air Force Contingency Augmentation Program (AFCAP) Contract for URS, is providing Fire Alarm Technicians to the 386th Expeditionary Civil Engineering Squadron (ECES).
Scope of Services:
Sallyport provided all management and labor necessary to inspect, test, maintain, repair or replace all of the 124 fire detection and alarm systems across 122 facilities. Our Fire Alarm Technicians were factory trained and certified for fire alarm system service and certified by a nationally recognized fire alarm certification organization.
- Inspected all fire detection and alarm systems. Corrected any discrepancies or impairments to any fire detection or alarm system within 7 days.
- Developed and implemented a plan to repair all inoperative and non-reporting fire detection and alarm systems. Brought them up to full operating condition with remote reporting to the Fire Department Alarm Room. This work included reprogramming or replacing local fire alarm panels, replacing defective devices, installing transmitters, and installing new remote reporting panels.
- Implemented a preventive maintenance program to prevent and correct deficiencies with fire detection and alarm system components, thus minimizing service interruptions, extending component life, and maximizing operating efficiency
- Provided emergency repair services of alarm systems within 2 hours as determined by government standards to eliminate serious injury to personnel, prevent loss or damage to government property, or restore essential services
- Developed and maintained a quality assurance program to ensure maintenance and repair services are performed according to all applicable NFPA Standards, UFC 3-600-02, and manufacturer's instructions
- Developed and maintained a database of all fire detection and alarm systems including system type, number and type of devices, transmitter information, system codes, current status, reported activations and cause, next scheduled inspection, and a log of performed inspections, tests, maintenance, and repairs including craftsperson completing the task
- Built a library of O&M manuals for each type of fire detection, alarm, and reporting system covered under the contract
- Maintained an adequate stock of materials to allow timely service of all systems
